Personal Finance Teacher Training Institute
The 2026 Personal Finance Teacher Training Institute aims to empower U.S. high school educators with both subject-matter expertise and effective teaching approaches that can be implemented in the classroom.
As new financial education mandates across many U.S. states require high school students to complete a personal finance course prior to graduation, the need for training in this area has never been greater. This Institute is designed to support and equip high school teachers with the knowledge, skills, and practical resources necessary to implement a robust personal finance course for a diverse student population.
Over the course of five consecutive days, participants engage in a program that combines:
Hands-on, relevant
instructional strategies
The institute is co-organized by the Stanford Initiative for Financial Decision-Making (IFDM) and the Hoover Institution, in partnership with the Stanford Graduate School of Education Professional Learning Extension (PLEX). We would like to thank the Hoover Institution for their financial support, which allows teachers to participate in this five-day program at no cost.
